Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how 51 Project (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Atmos mobile application and the website at atmosweatherapp.com (together, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described below.
1. Information we collect
We collect only the minimum information needed to deliver a hyperlocal weather forecast and operate Atmos Pro subscriptions:
- Account information. When you sign in with Sign in with Apple, we receive a privacy-relay email address and an Apple user identifier. We store these in our authentication backend to associate your saved locations, alert preferences, and subscription state with your account.
- Location data. If you grant “When in Use” location permission, we use your device location to fetch a forecast for your current spot and to center the radar map. We do not collect location in the background, and we do not retain a history of your movements. You can disable location at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy.
- Saved places. Locations you explicitly save (home, work, the cabin, etc.) are stored against your account so they sync across devices.
- App preferences. Units (°F/°C, mph/kph), alert thresholds, briefing schedule, and notification preferences are stored to make the app behave the way you set it up.
- Search history. Place-search queries are stored locally on your device and per-user in our backend so autocomplete can suggest your recent searches. They are never used for advertising or shared with third parties.
- Purchase data. If you subscribe to Atmos Pro, purchase events flow through Apple’s StoreKit and our subscription processor (RevenueCat). We receive entitlement state — not your payment-card information.
- Diagnostics. Crash reports and performance metrics help us fix bugs. These are not linked to your identity.
2. Information we do not collect
- Health and fitness data
- Financial information (Apple handles billing)
- Contacts
- Photos, audio, or messages
- Browsing or search history outside Atmos
- Sensitive information
3. Tracking
Atmos does not use Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework and does not track users across apps or websites owned by other companies. We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
4. How we use information
- To deliver hyperlocal forecast and radar data for your location.
- To generate AI weather briefings tailored to your location and time of day. Forecast inputs are sent to OpenAI (gpt-4o-mini) over an encrypted connection. Inputs are not used to train OpenAI models per our API agreement, and Atmos does not transmit your name or email to OpenAI.
- To send severe-weather and scheduled briefing push notifications you have opted into.
- To process and validate Atmos Pro subscriptions.
- To diagnose crashes and improve product performance.
- To respond to support requests you send us.
5. Third-party services
Atmos relies on the following processors to operate. Each is bound by a data-processing agreement consistent with this policy:
- Open-Meteo — forecast data. Coordinates are sent over HTTPS; no account information is included.
- RainViewer — radar tile delivery.
- OpenAI (gpt-4o-mini) — AI briefings. Used only when you trigger an AI feature; falls back to a deterministic local summary if unavailable.
- Apple (Sign in with Apple, StoreKit, Push Notification Service) — authentication, billing, and push delivery.
- Supabase — encrypted storage for account, saved locations, alert preferences, and search history.
- RevenueCat — subscription entitlement processing.
6. Data retention
We retain account and preference data for as long as your account is active. Search history is retained for up to 180 days unless you delete it sooner. Diagnostic data is retained for up to 90 days. When you delete your account, all account-linked data is permanently removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (for example, tax records related to subscriptions).
7. Account deletion
You can delete your Atmos account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account inside the app. This triggers a backend job that permanently removes your authentication record and all associated rows (saved locations, alert preferences, AI cache, push device tokens, and search history) per Apple App Store Review Guideline 5.1.1(v). You may also email info@Jhobbie.com to request deletion.
8. Children’s privacy
Atmos is rated 4+ but is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at info@Jhobbie.com and we will delete it.
9. Your rights (CCPA, GDPR, and similar)
If you reside in California, the EEA, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with similar privacy laws, you have the right to access, correct, port, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict its processing. To exercise these rights, email us at info@Jhobbie.com from the email associated with your account. We will respond within 30 days.
We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act, so no “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link is required.
10. Security
Account data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest. We use least-privilege access controls and review provider security certifications (SOC 2, ISO 27001) where applicable. No system is perfectly secure; if you suspect a vulnerability or unauthorized access, contact us immediately.
11. International transfers
Our infrastructure is hosted in the United States. By using Atmos, you consent to processing of your information in the United States and other countries where our processors operate, under appropriate legal safeguards (such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses).
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective date” above and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by email. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance.
